Yahoo Messenger Tips And Tricks

If you use Yahoo Messenger as your chat client, there are many features and tips that you can use in Yahoo Messenger to customize it according to your needs. Here is a collection of Yahoo Messenger tips and tricks that I found useful. Let me know if you have any tip that is not included in this list.

Change the title text

By default the title text on Yahoo Messenger is “Yahoo Messenger” followed by your status. Simply edit ymsgr.ini file to edit this text. You will find this in same folder as Yahoo Messenger in your program files. Locate ymsgr.ini and open it in notepad, at the end of file add the following.
[APP TITLE]
Caption=yourtext
This “yourtext” is whatever you want to display in the title of Yahoo Messenger.

Grab or copy Yahoo Messenger Avatar

Well if you like the avatar of a friend, do not ask them to give you that avatar. Use avatar grabber to have that avatar yourself.

Find invisible users on Yahoo messenger

Type in Yahoo ID of a contact in Invisible Scanner and their status will be revealed even if they chose to be invisible.

Access Yahoo Messenger archives when offline

Archiving is one of the cool features of Yahoo Messenger to go through the old chats that are saved. Use YIM Archive Plugin for Google Desktop Search[http://desktop.google.com/] using which you can access all your archives when offline using desktop search.

Invisible nick name in chat rooms

Go to Edit Profile and in nick name type (space character) on it press Alt 0160 (or Alt+255) and save it. Now go to chat rooms and you nick name is empty.

Remove ads from Yahoo Messenger

Close the messenger and download the self extracting file, 64 KB and run noads.exe from it and restart messenger. If you install a new version of messenger you need to repeat these steps again.

New Email Alert
