In windows vista Microsoft took out the “Add Printer” feature from start menu but in Windows 7 it is restored after users complains (According to Julie, Larson Green. Windows vice president at Microsoft)
Microsoft is introducing many changes in taskbar of Windows 7. Users can now pin programs in task bar for easy launch, designers have removed redundant buttons from taskbar that launch applications. When user roll over a program’s icon at task bar, it will be easy to see how many documents are open and switch between them.

This is another problem in Windows vista which is addressed in Windows 7. Windows 7 will be faster and require less memory to run. Vista generally needs costlier hardware configurations than the older Windows XP.
The single main complaint about Vista was its user account control’s incessant, pop up dialogues, nagging. You ask computer to do something and a pop up appears asking if you are sure you want computer to do that. It was horrible at sometimes. I mean it is perfectly OK to ask certain things for security reasons. But vista was not sure if NOTEPAD is a safe program to run.
Windows 7 lets you set what icons and notifications you want to see in the system tray. Just right click the system tray and click “Customize” from menu.
Some people hate the sidebar that comes in Windows Vista. It displays on right side of the desktop and carries different gadgets. In windows 7, the sidebar is gone. But for users, who love gadgets, you can have them and they roam free across the desktop.
They are overhauled. Only some people use them anymore but now in Windows 7 WordPad and paint have got office2007 ribbons installed and calculator is equipped with some options that are useful in real life. Now as ofiice2007 ribbons are installed WordPad and paint may get some more functions in future.

Yes, Windows 7 will run longer than vista and XP on your laptop. A lot of work has been done at background of Windows 7 to dial down processor more often, automatically turnoff Ethernet adaptor. Vista was better in power management than XP and Windows 7 is remarkable improvement in this regard. You also have option to see what programs or hardware is causing more loads on battery so all in control.
By clicking on Wi-Fi adapter in system tray, you get a popup menu of available networks. You can refresh this list there and can connect to any network that you want.
The desktop theme chooser highlights the ability to change window border’s “glass edge”. Users have choice of 18 tints of glass to choose from. More themes are available to download from internet.
This option saves your time to manually fit different windows on available screen space. Dragging windows to side where another window is already open automatically arranges both windows to fit the screen. Dragging window’s title bar at the top of screen maximizes the window.
Windows explorer has a new feature of libraries. These are virtual folders that remain across different folders and even multiple networks PCs. Default libraries are for music, videos, pictures etc. So if you’re on your work laptop and you bring it home, you can play music that lives on a home PC’s drive from the laptop. I could easily create a new Library, and include whatever folders from any home-network connected PC (whether WiFi or wired) I could browse to using the “Include a folder in [library name]” dialog. I could even drag a folder into the library to include it.
So above are few changes that make Windows 7 better than Vista. Let us see what the final version brings but surely Windows 7 looks far better.
