Launchy is a free and open source lightweight program and document launcher. Launchy indexes the program in your start menu and can launch your documents, project files and bookmarks with a few key strokes. Using Launchy, you can set your preferred Hotkey combinations.
The new release has brought many new features in Launchy. The most notable (pre-installed) features are.
- Web Search: searches for Google, Wikipedia and Amazon etc (For example type Google then tab then search query and press enter)
- Explore Navigation: Type C: and hit Tab and you will see all folders below C:\. Using this you can navigate through whole system. You can also use shortcut key like “my doc” + Tab to jump to My Documents.
- Calculator: Simple maths can be performed inside Launchy.
- Weather: Check weather by typing weather then Tab then your zip code or city name or state name and press Enter.
- Index your Pictures: You can do it easily like Directory: My Documents and File Types: .jpg .gif .bmp
- Index your Documents: You can do it easily like Directory: My Documents and File Types: .doc .pdf .ppt .xls
