How To Install Ubuntu 8.10 Using USB
Ubuntu 8.10 is more stable and secure as compare to earlier versions. The new “carry on USB” feature lets you download and install Ubuntu via a USB flash drive instead of burning it to a CD. Here is a short tutorial on how you can install Ubuntu 8.10 using a flash drive.

You will need two things to proceed; Ubuntu 8.10 ISO can be downloaded from http://ubuntu.com/ and a USB drive with at least 1GB memory.
- Plug your USB drive to computer and format it in FAT32 by right clicking and selecting format.
- Download Ubuntu 8.10 conversion script and execute it. A folder Ubuntu810 will be created.
- Place the Ubuntu 8.10 ISO in the Ubuntu810 folder.
- Select and run the Ubuntu810.bat file inside the Ubuntu810 folder and follow the screen instructions.
- Restart the computer when script is finished and select the BIOS or boot menu to boot from the USB device, save the changes and reboot.
You should now be able to test the LiveCD version of Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid Ibex and install it. The method is non-persistent and will not save any changes you make while running Ubuntu in LiveCD mode.
