It is now possible to access your Gmail account on desktop without running a full-blown email client; you only need to get this new Gmail Google desktop gadget.
You only need to install the free Google Desktop software on your Windows desktop. You can do everything from reading and writing to search and star messages in your emails with this gadget. You can also use the same keyboard shortcuts as you use in web Gmail application and also facility of Auto Complete Contact. The gadget does not take much space in your sidebar or desktop, alternatively you can resize the gadget to show as many mails as you like.
You can also open more instances of the gadget to sign in in different Gmail accounts at same time. So it is defiantly a gadget worth giving it a try.
