Windows 7 only displays icons on buttons in taskbar and no text which sometimes makes it hard to recognize which application is running. You can add text on these buttons to make it easy to recognise the applications running. Follow these steps and it is easy to add text on these buttons in taskbar.
- Right click on taskbar of Windows 7(on empty section of taskbar).
- Select Task menu and go to taskbar buttons dropdown box and change from “always combine, hide labels” to either “never combine” or “combine when taskbar is full”. This “combine when taskbar is full” option will group some programs buttons in taskbar and “never combine” will undo grouping.
- You can also use option “use small icons” to make these icons small as in XP or Vista.
- Click OK to save the settings.

Now you will notice the buttons in taskbar have label (text) on them.
